Zena Maria Cardman is an American geobiologist and NASA astronaut. Born on October 26, 1987, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she also minored in chemistry and marine sciences. Her early research focused on biogeochemistry in hydrocarbon seeps and hydrothermal vents, and she worked with the Palmer Long-Term Ecological Research Network in Antarctica.
