Biography

Yassamin Ansari is the U.S. Representative for Arizona’s 3rd congressional district, taking office in 2025.

A progressive Democrat, she is the first Iranian-American Democrat ever elected to Congress and the youngest woman serving in the 119th Congress. Prior to her election to the House, she served as the Vice Mayor of Phoenix, Arizona, and was the youngest woman ever elected to the Phoenix City Council, representing District 7 from 2021 to 2024.
