Biography

Wim Van Aken serves as Senior Advisor to the Chief Economist at the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) and is the ESM Mission Chief for post-programme surveillance in Cyprus. In his advisory role, he divides his time between internal and external aspects of the ESM, and as Mission Chief, he leads a team of experts monitoring and assessing Cyprus's ability to repay its loans.

Prior to his current positions, Van Aken was a Senior Advisor to the ESM Managing Director.
