W. Scott Stornetta is recognized as a co-developer of the early blockchain, a foundational technology for digital security. Alongside Stuart Haber, he co-authored the seminal 1991 paper "How to Time-Stamp a Digital Document," which introduced concepts critical to blockchain's development. Stornetta is an American physicist and scientific researcher.

Currently, Stornetta is the CEO of SureMark Digital, where Stuart Haber serves as Chief Cryptographic Officer.
