Vladimir Kara-Murza is a Russian-British politician, author, journalist, and documentary filmmaker. A former political prisoner, he was released in August 2024 as part of a major East-West prisoner exchange negotiated by the U.S.
and German governments. His imprisonment followed his arrest in April 2022 for publicly denouncing the invasion of Ukraine, leading to a 25-year sentence for “high treason” after a closed trial in Moscow.
