Graeme Park began his career in the early 1980s working at Selectadisc in Nottingham. He reluctantly took on the role of DJ when the shop owner opened a nightclub, eventually gaining a reputation across the Midlands and the North of England. In 1988, he was invited to cover for Mike Pickering at The Haçienda in Manchester, where he became a resident DJ.
