Steven Chu is the William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Physics, of Molecular and Cellular Physiology, and of Energy Science and Engineering at Stanford University. He is a Nobel laureate, recognized for his research at Bell Laboratories and Stanford University on the cooling and trapping of atoms with laser light, for which he shared the 1997 Nobel Prize in Physics.
