Steve Verheul is currently a Principal with GT&Company Executive Advisors and President of Steve Verheul Consulting Inc. He also serves as a Fellow of the Public Policy Forum and is a member of the Prime Minister's Advisory Council on Canada-U.S. Relations.

Before retiring from the Federal Public Service in 2022, Verheul held several senior positions in the federal government.
