Steven Eisman is an American businessman and investor recognized for his successful bet against collateralized debt obligations (CDOs) prior to the 2008 financial crisis. His story gained widespread attention after being profiled in Michael Lewis's 2010 book, 'The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine,' and its 2015 film adaptation, where he was portrayed by actor Steve Carell as 'Mark Baum.
