Stefano Scarpetta is the Chief Economist and Head of the Economics Department at the OECD, a position he has held since April 2026. In this capacity, he contributes to positioning the OECD at the forefront of global economic policy thinking. He also serves as the Secretary-General’s spokesperson on economic issues and participates with the SG in the International Monetary and Financial Committee, as well as G7 and G20 meetings.
