Simon Winchester is a British-American author and journalist. He began his career at The Guardian in 1969, initially as a regional correspondent before becoming its Northern Ireland correspondent. During his time in Northern Ireland, he was present for events of The Troubles, including Bloody Sunday.
He later served as The Guardian's correspondent in Washington, D.C., where he covered the end of Richard Nixon's administration and the beginning of Jimmy Carter's presidency.
