Shinzo Abe served as the 96th Prime Minister of Japan, having been designated for the role in December 2012. Prior to this, he held the position of the 90th Prime Minister of Japan from 2006 to 2007.
His career in government also included serving as Chief Cabinet Secretary in 2005 during the Third Koizumi Cabinet. Earlier, he was Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary from 2000 to 2002, spanning the Second Mori Cabinet and the First Koizumi Cabinet.
