Sheryll Cashin is the Carmack Waterhouse Professor of Law, Civil Rights and Social Justice at Georgetown University Law Center. Born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama, her parents' activism in the civil rights movement, including her mother's arrest during a sit-in protest and her father's challenge to George Wallace in the 1970 Alabama gubernatorial election, profoundly influenced her focus on racial issues, segregation, and inequality.
