Shelley Moore Capito is the senior United States Senator from West Virginia, a role she has held since 2014. A member of the Republican Party, she made history as the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from West Virginia and the first West Virginia Republican to win a full term in the Senate since 1942. She was reelected in 2020.
Prior to her Senate service, Capito represented West Virginia's 2nd congressional district as a U.S. Representative from 2001 to 2015.
