Sheldon Whitehouse is an American politician and attorney who has served as the junior United States Senator from Rhode Island since 2007. A member of the Democratic Party, he was reelected in 2012, 2018, and 2024. Since 2023, he chairs the United States Senate Committee on the Budget.
Prior to his Senate career, Whitehouse held significant legal and political roles in Rhode Island.
