Sheila Crump Johnson, born on January 25, 1949, is an American billionaire businesswoman. She co-founded the cable TV channel Black Entertainment Network (BET) in 1979 with her first husband, Robert. Viacom acquired BET in 1999 for $3 billion. In 2002, Johnson sold her BET shares and subsequently invested in hotels, real estate, and horses.
In 2005, Johnson founded Salamander Hotels and Resorts, where she currently serves as CEO.
