Shahana Hanif is an American politician, activist, and community organizer, born on February 5, 1991. Since 2022, she has represented New York City's 39th Council District, which includes neighborhoods such as Kensington, Park Slope, and Carroll Gardens. She holds the distinction of being the first Bangladeshi and Muslim woman elected to the NYC Council, as well as the first woman to represent District 39.
