James Lankford is an American politician and an ordained Southern Baptist minister who serves as the senior United States Senator from Oklahoma. A member of the Republican Party, he has held his Senate seat since 2015. Before his election to the Senate, Lankford represented Oklahoma's 5th congressional district in the U.

S. House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015. He currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Senate Republican Conference for the 119th Congress.
