Scott M. Stringer is an American politician and a Democrat, known for his extensive career in New York City and State government. He served as the 44th New York City Comptroller, a role he began on January 1, 2014, after winning the 2013 election.

Prior to this, Stringer held the position of New York State Assemblyman and was the 26th borough president of Manhattan. He was also a candidate in the Democratic primaries for mayor of New York City in 2021 and 2025.
