Biography

Scott Bessent is the 79th United States Secretary of the Treasury, having been confirmed by the Senate on January 27, 2025, and sworn in on January 28, 2025. Prior to his government service, Bessent established a notable career in finance, including serving as a partner at Soros Fund Management (SFM) and founding Key Square Group, a global macro investment firm.

Bessent joined Soros Fund Management in 1991, eventually becoming the head of its London office.
