Born in Gifu, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, in 1966, Ikeda's artistic practice centers on sound in its raw states, utilizing elements such as sine tones and noise, often at frequencies near the limits of human hearing. His music features imaginative rhythmic structures, exploiting beat patterns and employing discrete tones and noise to evoke drum machine sounds.
