Biography

Ryan Michael Lance is an American engineer and oilman, currently serving as the Chairman and CEO of ConocoPhillips since May 2012. He received a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Montana Tech of the University of Montana.

Lance began his career in 1984 with ARCO Alaska. His tenure at ARCO included roles in Bakersfield, California, and Midland, Texas, where he worked on coalbed methane operations. He returned to Alaska in 1994 as an exploration engineering manager.
