Robert Gerrish began his career in marketing and communications, running an independent consultancy that was acquired by Saatchi & Saatchi in 1989. After this, he pursued a new approach to his work, supporting youth brands and exploring the art and music industries. In the mid-1990s, he moved to Sydney, Australia, and after a period as GM of a design agency, he returned to independent work.
In 2005, Gerrish founded Flying Solo, a community dedicated to supporting independent businesses.
