Robert Zubrin is an American aerospace engineer, author, and a prominent advocate for human exploration of Mars. He is widely recognized as the driving force behind Mars Direct, a proposal developed with his colleague David Baker in 1990. This plan aimed to significantly reduce the cost and complexity of manned Mars missions by utilizing the Martian atmosphere to produce oxygen, water, and rocket propellant for the surface stay and return journey.
