Robert R. Prechter Jr. is an American financial author and stock market analyst, widely recognized for his financial forecasts based on the Elliott Wave Principle.

He is the founder of Elliott Wave International and New Classics Library. Prechter has authored or co-authored 14 books and edited two, including the New York Times bestseller *Conquer the Crash* in 2002. Since 1979, he has published monthly financial commentary in his newsletter, *The Elliott Wave Theorist*.
