Robert Jones Portman, born December 19, 1955, is an American attorney and politician. He represented Ohio's 2nd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1993 to 2005, winning reelection six times. From 2011 to 2023, Portman served as a United States Senator from Ohio, being reelected in 2016 before announcing in 2021 that he would not seek a third term.
Prior to his Senate tenure, Portman held significant roles in the executive branch.
