Biography

Richard A. Gonzalez is the former Chairman of AbbVie’s Board of Directors. He served as AbbVie’s first and founding CEO from 2013 until his retirement in July 2024.

Prior to his tenure at AbbVie, Mr. Gonzalez was a 30-year veteran at Abbott. He held the position of President and Chief Operating Officer of Abbott before a brief retirement in 2007.
