Richard Sennett (born January 1, 1943) is an American sociologist and academic. He currently serves as the Centennial Professor of Sociology at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and is a Senior Fellow of the Center on Capitalism and Society at Columbia University. Sennett's scholarly work focuses on social ties in cities, the effects of urban living on individuals in the modern world, the nature of work in modern society, and the sociology of culture.
