Biography

Richard Burgon is a British politician representing Leeds East as a Member of Parliament (MP) since 2015. A member of the Labour Party, he served in the Corbyn shadow cabinet as Shadow Economic Secretary to the Treasury from September 2015. He was later promoted to Shadow Secretary of State for Justice and Shadow Lord Chancellor in June 2016, a position he held until April 2020. Burgon was a candidate in the 2020 Labour Party deputy leadership election.
