Biography

Ray Takeyh is an Iranian-American Middle East scholar and a Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. Born in Tehran, Iran, in 1966, he holds a doctorate in modern history from the University of Oxford. His work focuses extensively on Iran and U.S. policy toward the Middle East.

Throughout his career, Takeyh has held various prominent positions, including a former role as an official at the United States Department of State, where he assisted Dennis Ross in 2009.
