Professor Sohier Elneil initiated her career in Urogynaecology in the early 1990s, focusing on patients suffering from vesico-vaginal fistulas and female genital mutilation in the developing world. Her early experiences with patients facing ongoing issues like incontinence and chronic pelvic pain, despite surgery, shaped her career path. This led her to sub-specialize in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery, a field formerly known as urogynaecology.
