Philip Heath Mendelson is an American politician from Washington, D.C., born on November 8, 1952. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Council of the District of Columbia, a role he was first elected to on June 13, 2012, following the resignation of Kwame R. Brown. He was subsequently re-elected to full terms in 2014, 2018, and 2022.
Mendelson moved to Washington, D.C., in 1970 to attend American University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.
