Neil Postman (March 8, 1931 – October 5, 2003) was an American author, educator, media theorist, and cultural critic. He founded the Media Ecology Program and served as Chairman of the NYU Steinhardt Department of Media, Culture, and Communication.
Postman was known for his opposition to digital technology, including personal computers and smartphones, and was critical of how technology is used, particularly in schools. His work explored the discussions of technology and education.
