Biography

Monika Schnitzer is a German economist, currently serving as Professor of Comparative Economic Research at LMU Munich, a position she has held since 1996. Born in 1961, she has been the Chairwoman of the German Council of Economic Experts since 2022. She also presided over the Verein für Socialpolitik from 2015 to 2016.

Schnitzer's academic background includes a diploma in economics from the University of Cologne in 1986, followed by a doctorate (Ph.D.) from the University of Bonn in 1991.
