Michel Henri Devoret is a French-American physicist born in Paris, France, in 1953. He was awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics, sharing it with John Clarke and John M. Martinis, for their joint work on macroscopic quantum phenomena in superconducting circuits. Currently, he holds the position of Chief Scientist for Quantum Hardware at Google Quantum AI, is a Professor of Physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Professor Emeritus of Applied Physics at Yale University.
