Michael Franzese, born Michael Grillo in 1951, was a caporegime in the Colombo crime family, where he became a made-member in his twenties. At his most affluent, he generated an estimated $5 to $8 million per week in business. He later decided to walk away from this life, becoming the only high-ranking official of a major crime family to do so without protective custody and survive.
