Margaret Lockwood Satterthwaite is an American legal scholar and the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers, a position she was appointed to in October 2022 by the Human Rights Council. In this role, she addresses issues concerning judicial autonomy and the legal profession globally. She is also a Professor of Clinical Law at New York University School of Law.
