Maurice Moses Obstfeld is a distinguished professor of economics at the University of California, Berkeley. He is widely recognized for his significant contributions to international economics and his research on the global economy. From September 2015, he served as the Economic Counsellor and Director of the Research Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), succeeding Olivier Blanchard.
