Matteo Renzi is an Italian politician who served as Prime Minister of Italy from 2014 to 2016. He currently holds the position of Senator for Florence, a role he has held since 2018. Renzi is also the leader of Italia Viva (IV), a party he founded in 2019, following his tenure as secretary of the Democratic Party (PD) from 2013 to 2018.
Prior to his time as prime minister, Renzi served as the president of the province of Florence from 2004 to 2009 and as the mayor of Florence from 2009 to 2014.
