Mathias Döpfner is a German businessman, author, and journalist. He currently serves as the CEO of the media group Axel Springer SE. Together with Friede Springer, he holds 95% of the share in the company.

Döpfner joined the management board of Axel Springer SE in 2000, after a career as editor-in-chief for several newspapers. From 2016 to 2022, he was president of the Federal Association of Digital Publishers and Newspaper Publishers (BDZV).
