Martin Schmalz is a Professor of Finance, Economics, and Real Estate at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School. He previously served as Chief Economist, Director of the Office of Economic and Risk Analysis, and a member of the management committee at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), the U.S.
audit regulator. In this role, he led the economic analysis of audit rules aimed at protecting over $70 trillion of investor capital.
