Martin Ravallion (1952-2022) was an Australian economist and the inaugural Edmond D. Villani Professor of Economics at Georgetown University. Prior to this, he directed the research department at the World Bank. He earned his PhD in economics from the London School of Economics.
Ravallion conducted extensive research on poverty in developing countries and on policies designed to combat poverty.
