Biography

Maroš Šefčovič is a Slovak diplomat and politician. He currently serves as European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, Interinstitutional Relations and Transparency (2024–2029) in the Von der Leyen Commission II. Šefčovič has been a member of the European Commission since 2009.

Throughout his tenure in the European Commission, Šefčovič has held several key portfolios. He was the Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal from 2023 to 2024.
