Mark Joseph Carney is a Canadian politician and economist currently serving as the 24th Prime Minister of Canada and leader of the Liberal Party since 2025. He also represents Nepean as a Member of Parliament. Carney began his career in finance before joining Canada's public service. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Harvard University in 1987, and a master's degree (1993) and a doctorate (1995) in economics from the University of Oxford.
