Biography

Marco Antonio Rubio is an American politician, attorney, and diplomat. He currently serves as the 72nd United States Secretary of State, taking office on January 21, 2025. Additionally, since May 1, 2025, he holds the dual roles of acting National Security Advisor and acting Archivist of the United States.

Prior to these appointments, Rubio represented Florida in the U.S. Senate from 2011 to 2025, and was a candidate for president in 2016.
