Marcia Kemper McNutt is an American geophysicist and the 22nd president of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of the United States, a position she has held since 2016. Prior to this, she served as the 15th director of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) from 2009 to 2013, becoming the first woman to hold the post. During her time at USGS, she also acted as science adviser to the United States Secretary of the Interior from 2010 to 2013.
