Lionel Barber is an English journalist known for his 14-year tenure as editor of the Financial Times (FT) from 2005 to 2020. During his leadership, he was credited with elevating the FT's journalistic standards, transforming it into a global brand, and guiding its transition into the digital era, which included growing its readership and managing its takeover by Nikkei.
Barber began his journalism career in 1978 as a reporter for The Scotsman.
