Leopoldo Eduardo López Mendoza, born on April 29, 1971, is a Venezuelan opposition leader, politician, economist, and sociologist. He co-founded the World Liberty Congress and is the National Coordinator of the political party Voluntad Popular, which he founded in 2009. Earlier in his career, López was elected mayor of the Chacao Municipality of Caracas in July 2000.
López has faced significant political and legal challenges in Venezuela.
