Laurie Trautman is the Director of the Border Policy Research Institute at Western Washington University. In this role, she conducts extensive research focused on the U.S.-Canada border, with a particular emphasis on the Washington – British Columbia region. Her research encompasses critical topics such as trade, transportation, security, and human mobility.

Trautman actively collaborates with faculty, students, the private sector, and government agencies.
