Juan Manuel Merchan is an American judge and former prosecutor, born in Bogotá, Colombia, in 1962 or 1963. He immigrated to New York City at age six and grew up in Jackson Heights, Queens. Merchan is currently an acting justice of the New York State Supreme Court in New York County (Manhattan).
